We Gotta Keep Our Composure! We're back in the field harvesting the last of our 2020 crop! #Election2020
The goal of the Grain Bin Safety campaign is to reduce the occurrence of grain bin accidents by raising awareness of the hazards and by raising funds to equip first responders with the tools and training needed to respond quickly when necessary in the event of a grain bin accident. The funds raised will be used to purchase Grain Bin Rescue kits and training for our first responders.

Nominate Your Local First Responders: Best point of contact at your department? What equipment does your department/responders need? Is there a specific brand of equipment your community uses as a combined effort with other local departments? Any other information you think we might find useful? Please send request to givingback@mnmillennialfarmer.com
Zach and Becky Johnson will assemble a panel of volunteers to review request a distribute donations accordingly.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I watch your posts and am just floored at how technical farming has become and the breadth of knowledge you carry around in your head. Farming on this scale is fascinating. When I recall Mike Bloomberg saying how he could teach anyone to farm, I just think he needs to come out and spend a few days with you, and then challenge him to repeat what he said: "I could teach anybody, even people in this room, to be a farmer. It's a process. You dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on top, add water, up comes the corn." I'm glad there are people as hard-working and dedicated as you and your family and team meeting America's agricultural needs. Thank you and please keep up the great work.

Bloomberg is an idiot... Anyone who thinks farming is that simple has to be an idiot. There's literally thousands of yrs of knowledge in farming that brings us to the "science" of farming today.

While I love your show. I think the flag waving is obnoxious. I put out Old Glory on the 4th of July and Memorial Day to celebrate the birth of our nation and to honor soldiers who gave their lives for democracy. To what Lincoln referred to as "the last full measure of devotion" when he honored the soldiers at Gettysburg who died fighting against the racist south. When we plaster everything with the flag we diminish its meaning.

When the pump kicks off & the tank is not full, it means the tank is not venting... Per EPA reg's , fuel vapors have to be filtered. (Not on small engines). So my guess is, you have a "vapor filter or cartridge" thats plugged. Not at all sure how diesels vapors are filtered on tractors/equipment , but I think they must be.

Govment juice aka DEF is a pain in many areas! The DEF nozzle problem most likely can be solved by soaking the nozzle in some warm water for an hour or so. DEF crystalizes when dry and plugs up the vents/internals of nozzle.

Don't think those are the kind of wires you want to put your tongue on to see if they are hot :) Nothing like a couple hundred amps running through the body to wake you up and put you to sleep at the same time. Unfortunately it's usually the permanent type sleep. Got to say electricity scares me.

tip for your def kicking out on you when filling the tank from a truck driver. pull the nozzle almost all the way out and open it wide open and then once it's flowing slowly push the nozzle back in and it should be fine.

The reason why your DEF nozzle keeps cutting off is because the def dont like the cold. It has to be insulated. Also those nozzles have a magnet in them and if it gets too much def built up on it, it will kick the nozzle off.
Shane Bassen

The best way to keep the def nozzles working. Get get a weed sprayer with water in it and spray it through the little hole on the bottom of the nozzle. What happens is urea crystallizes in the signal line and causes it to trip.

Those def nozzles give us a hard time all year long. We can put a new on and inside of a week, you play hell trying to find a position, that its happy to pump in. Personally I think they have performance anxiety. Either way as someone else suggested keep it in the shop, or check to see if that trailer has a heated tank. That stuff freezes fairly easily.

We struggle with getting def to go in that side, when you pump it, but it’s fine if we use our gravity feed. If you open the otherside when your using that side, that will help but we always pump to the one by the step. Whatever you do, the pumps are too quick for the breather, the manual will give you a max rate for filling, it’s very low.

Zack, about the blower on the dryer, you have said before it’s really unfortunately loud. I have see some farmers around here build a little shed over the blower and insulated it really well. They also built one wall double for the air to enter the shed which helps the filter stay clean longer.
